Further proof we need not seek, The world is near an end, For all day long the sun was seen - No rain the clouds did send. Both day and night the sky was dry And Monday came and went; I rubbed my eyes and pinched myself And wondered what it meant. Had the gods forgotten us, Did they withhold the rain? Had someone dropped a dime on us Like Abel fell to Cain? Moccasins upon my feet, I feathered up a hat, And danced around the living room - Still rainless after that. Somewhere something’s wrong I’m sure It simply cannot be That fortune brought a day of dry To share with you and me.
