Night Dreams

Floating free
Through alleys dark,
The night slips in
Abrupt and stark.
Steals away
Within the soul,
From sleep emerge
To dreams control.
Abstract lines
In colors spill
Across the night
To dreams fulfill.
Creatures form
Upon the slate;
Condensed, the night
The visitors
The known and not,
Disturb the soul
To stir the pot.
Beneath the dark
Where dreams are kept,
Tears of laughter,
Tears we’ve wept.
Open baggage,
Secrets stowed
Disguised by day
Unfettered flow.
Nocturnal nymphs
With light are gone;
Unsettled souls
Awake to dawn.
