simple verse from a simple man

Vigil for Jackson

I’m keeping a vigil,
She’s soon to depart,
Twenty years old
And soon we will part.

Unable to eat,
No water she drinks,
A skeletal form,
Her countenance shrinks.

She outlived a marriage
And move from the east,
She’s part of the whole
From which I’ve been pieced.

On a blanket endeared,
I’ve placed her nearby,
Speak to her gently
To ease her goodbye.
