Mary, 2015

by on Feb.24, 2016, under Poetry

Every now and then
She wanders through the field;
Another season passing,
Another harvest yield
Of memories on stages
Of ever fleeting years.
Her countenance unblemished
Exploring life’s frontiers.

She’s troubled by the world
Unraveling as she goes
Though her faith in God unchallenged
Is comforting and shows.
Politically a cynic,
The powerful she’ll doubt
And bleeds for every child,
The hungry, down and out.

Not much we have in common
Just moments lost to time;
Memories of our journeys,
The mountains we have climbed.
The highway mile markers,
The distance rolling by,
The exit sign that’s looming,
Beneath the Bridge of Sighs.

Distilled

Distilled

Carved from their surroundings,
Etched in moments stilled;
Sewn upon the fields
Of other memories tilled,

In revelry are captured,
Marooned within a crowd,
Captives of a moment
That only they’re allowed.
